The process tends to include:
Project initiation
Developing consultation strategy to support the pre-planning process
Research and set up
Identifying key stakeholders and neighbours to start the engagement process
Determining appropriate channels for face to face and digital consultation
Active consultation and engagement
Creating online content (e.g. bespoke website, engagement platform, surveys)
Producing consultation materials including postcards, display boards, media, social media
Conducting stakeholder briefings, community meetings, focus groups and public exhibitions (these can be run face-to-face or virtually)
Collecting feedback through mechanisms such as feedback surveys, post-its, verbal conversations, social media comments
Analysis
Analysing feedback and responding to issues and concerns raised
Reporting
Creating of Report of Community Involvement
Updating stakeholders/local community e.g. briefings, newsletters
Post-submission
Supporting the client during the determination period and following planning approval
